Group Project: Contrast
For this particular project we got assigned into small groups and were given a word. My group’s word was contrast. We were to construct 3d letters that show scale, spacing, interaction and context to express the meaning of the word and then place the word in an environment.

Written Description of Project:
For this project we explored how to express the meaning of a word through design. We had a long list of words that we got to choose from. We then tried different ways to express the meaning of our word, in two dimensions, by taking a flat piece of 6 X 6 paper and placing the letters on the page. We did many designs in black and white and then started to test out color. Eventually we ended up picking nine refined designs and matted them. The process took a lot of time and cooperation but it the end it turned out great and was a fun process. I learned a lot from it. The word that I chose was follow.

2. Response to Reading #1
What is design? As said, design should be the crucial anvil on which the human environment is shaped and created for betterment and delight of all. Design really is crucial; we use it in our everyday lives and learn from it. I like to think design is challenging, you can always come upon a complicated encounter and have to work your way through it. This reading really opened my eyes to the different aspects of design and I acquired a great deal of knowledge from it.

1. Ten principles for good design by Dieter Rams
First post! Here we go.
I found this article to be very interesting. The
ten commandments (ten most important principles of design) were helpful when
trying to understand what good design really is. Good design is anywhere from
being innovative to aesthetic and everything in between. Good design accentuates
the practicality of a product and makes a product easy to use. I learned a lot about design from this article.
